EZDomains Namebase migration: how legacy domain holders can recover their names

What changed?

EZDomains historically used the Namebase registry environment for second-level registrations beneath four Handshake top-level domains: `.ez`, `.use`, `.coffees`, and `.giveaways`. In 2026, custody and registry operations for those four TLDs moved into the HeadlessDomains and SkyInclude system.

A TLD migration and an individual customer-domain claim are related, but they are not the same event. Moving the TLD establishes the new authoritative registry path. It does not automatically prove which GFAVIP account should receive each historical second-level name. That is why a protected evidence and review process is necessary.

What “protected” means

The legacy registration inventory was imported into the new control system as protected holder records. Protection is checked before ordinary storefront availability or registration. An eligible historical name should therefore not be offered to a new buyer while its holder entitlement is unresolved.

Protection is not the same as automatic account attachment. We still need enough evidence to match the historical registration to the correct current account. This separation helps prevent accidental resale and prevents an unverified person from taking control of someone else's domain.

How to recover your legacy domain

   Open the official recovery page. Visit my.ezdomains.io/recover.

   Enter the complete domain. Include both the label and extension, such as `yourname.ez` or `project.coffees`.

   Connect GFAVIP. The signed-in account becomes the intended recipient if the claim is later approved.

   Submit the evidence you have. An order or receipt, registrar account reference, support ticket, migration reference, or recovery code can help the review.

   Wait for manual review. The team compares the claim with protected migration records and may request additional information.

   Manage the approved domain normally. After guarded activation, the name appears in the standard HeadlessDomains My Domains interface.

What happens after approval?

Approval and registry activation are controlled steps. Once completed, the verified GFAVIP holder sees the domain alongside other domains in HeadlessDomains My Domains. DNS management and renewal then use the standard customer interface; the Partners registry system remains behind the scenes.

Legacy DNS records are not imported during the migration. The approved domain begins with the standard managed DNS configuration, and the holder can create the records needed for the domain's current use.

Protection terms and future renewals

Eligible legacy registrations receive a one-time goodwill extension of one calendar year. The year is added to the domain's verified legacy paid-through date—not to the date the holder submits a claim. This preserves the historical commercial term while providing additional migration time.

Any additional term is a normal paid renewal through HeadlessDomains. Holders can use GFA Gems at the live central conversion rate or secure GFAVIP hosted checkout. Operational registry capacity does not create extra free customer entitlement.

Recovery and new registrations are separate

EZDomains also provides a storefront for genuinely available new names under these extensions. That retail path does not override protected legacy inventory. A protected historical name is stopped before checkout; an unrelated available name may be registered through the normal HeadlessDomains and GFAVIP checkout.
